St. Louis Shriners Childrens Hospital Welcomes 70,000th Patient

St. Louis Hospital Board Associate Carl Hall had the opportunity to welcome the 70,000th patient to receive treatment at the hospital on Friday, December 13, 2002. Carl is an Ainad Chaplain and a member of the Hospital Unit at our Shrine Center. The St. Louis Shriners Childrens Hospital is the first among our 22 hospitals to meet the major milestone.

The patient was a four year old girl with cerebral palsy. In addition to Board Associate Hall, hospital staff members and officials met in the main lobby to give her and her family a warm welcome as they arrived for her appointment. Since opening in 1924 the hospital has accommodated children from nine states. A total of 21 temples serve the hospital and their members refer the youths for treatment. We, at Ainad are especially proud of Carl Hall for his many hours of volunteer work in support of youth in need of medical treatment.
Jersey County Ainad Nobles submitted 12 applications in 2001 and 10 during 2002 to the Shrine Hospital. Children with orthopedic problems are treated at the St. Louis Shriners Childrens Hospital, burn patients are treated at the Cincinnati Shriners Burn Center and those with spinal cord injuries are treated at the hospital located in Chicago.
